Ryan Dungey

Ryan Dubgye Wins AMA Supercross main event | First Supercross win for Ryan Dungey

Supercross Rookie Ryan Dungey finished what he started last week in Anaheim. He won his first AMA 450 Class Main Event in Phoenix, Chase Field on his second try. Before the season started James “Bubba” Stewart predicted the two new rookies in the AMA 450 Class would make an immediate impact and
he was right.

Dungey has led 35 of the first 40 Main event laps.
Dungey riding his Rockstar Makita Suzuki and fellow AMA 450 Class rookie Ryan Villopoto riding his Monster Energy Kawasaki, are now atop the AMA 450 Class point standings. Dungey has led 35 of the 40 possible laps he has raced in his first two AMA 450 Class features. Dungey led the first 15 laps of the first event in Anaheim before being overtaken by hard charging defending AMA champ Bubba Stewart and led flag to flag in his Phoenix win.

Dungey gets the hole shot and never looks back.

In the Phoenix AMA Supercross, Dungey got the hole shot over fellow rookie, Ryan Villopoto and after Villopoto made a few attempts to take the lead, Dungey pulled away, never to be seen again. VIllopoto held on to second place and Josh Hill rode up through the field to make the podium. Ivan Tedesco just missed the podium finishing fourth and Andrew Short came home in fifth place.
Bubba Stewart had a rough night after his first week win in Anaheim. In Stewart’s heat race he took a nasty spill and ended up leaving the track on the back of a cart. Stewart came back for the Last Chance Qualifier and despite being in obvious pain, won the Last Chance Qualifier.

Stewart and Reed crash each other out.
Stewart got a bad jump in the main and came out of turn one in the middle of the pack. Stewart began racing through the field as was former AMA champ Chad Reed who also got off to a bad start. While both were racing for tenth place they both got together and Chad Reed gave Stewart a push and had words with Stewart. Reed left the track after the incident and an injured Stewart went on to finish a disappointing 15th.
