Motorcycle suspension Basics|What does a Motorcycle suspension really do?

Suspension plays a phenomenal part of the motorcycle riding experience, and safety. I will take some time to explain the basics of motorcycle suspension.
Main role players in the suspension are the springs and dampers with allot of other components, but remembering ourselves we will be dealing with basics here, we can see the two suspension components as the role players. The Suspension springs main function is to bare the actual weight of the motorcycle and also ensure that the suspension does not “bottom out”.
The damper contributes to stability and absorbs the incoming and outgoing forces caused by road surfaces. With both the suspension springs and dampers working together you have a system absorbing bumps together with restoring the motorcycle to its original position.
A poorly functioning suspension will have mainly the following effects.

•    Continuous heavy steering required to keep the motorcycle in one line.
•    Bouncing and rolling of the motorcycle after riding over a bump or pothole.
•    Shocks through the suspension after riding over a bump or pothole.
•    Steering difficult in bends and tyre ‘wandering’.
•    Dipping front suspension in cases of hard cornering. (over steer)
•    Struggling to turn and point the motorcycle in corners (under steer)
